Permaculture

I teach permaculture classes and courses that vary from 90 minutes to two weeks in length. Since 2009 I’ve been teaching an annual Design Certificate Course with Finger Lake Permaculture Institute outside of Ithaca, NY, in a 16 day residential format.

There is a lot of variety in how permaculture is taught, which ultimately is for the good. It also means that potential students should exercise discretion, and make sure that any course – but especially longer and more expensive ones – will serve their goals as a learner. I continue to teach with Finger Lakes Permaculture because I can do the kind of education that inspires me: participatory, science-based, nurturing – and with critical and compassionate attention to the political-economic context of the ecological issues at stake.
